What system are you using that has a '-v' option on rename?
I just tried several, both the command itself and the man pages, and I didn't see any reference to it. ?

Google found me this but I don't seem to have those options on my rename command. Looks like -v is "verbose" which my rename doesn't do ??
really weird, isn't this stuff all supposed to be standardized ?
still I *HATE* regular expressions. I prefer slower, simpler easer to read parse/ match loops in perl etc. It's *SO* much easer to debug.
