I recently installed mailman on one of the websites that I host, to serve as a mass mail disturbution list. After setting it up and configuring it to only accept messages from the correct users, I wanted to delete all the test messages from the archive.

It took me far to long to figure out that the data files are stored in
/var/lib/mailman
but once I figured that out I was able to delete the old files from the archive deleting files from /var/lib/mailman/archives/private/<listname> seems do the trick.

Some notes on how to modify the mailman headers so outlook will display them corectly is here
